Abstract

This project has the goal to broaden the documentation of the language named Idate spoken in the district of Laclubar, in Manatuto, East Timor, through data collection with native speakers inserted in their own linguistic community. With the objective to check the socio linguistic situation of the language, firstly some factors will be analyzed suggested by Unesco that considers vital the use of language in the community and at school, it can estimate if the language is threaten of extinction or not. To do the analysis of the language, trips will be done to six sukus (places) of Laclubar district to collect data and to watch the language in its usage. It is known that the deep study of a language allows the development of linguistic researches and also helps to strengthen the cultural identity of the people. This factor becomes more important about languages that have not been studied and because of that, there is not any written register, and as time goes by, many languages can die without being previously analyzed.
