Abstract

This project aims to reconstruct, in a prosopographical way, the life's trajectory of some writers of mathematics textbooks of the 1960s, especially those with Italian origin wich passed by the Ginásio da Capital, the Instituto de Educação and also by the Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras, Universidade de São Paulo. We would like to understand, by one side, how the habitus and identity immigrant were decisive social characteristics in the genesis of this social group, and by the other side, how these individuals have contributed to the process of reception of modern mathematics in Brazil and its subsequent adaptation to primary and junior highschools and therefore, to the modernization processes that lived Brazil in the period.
