Abstract

Cooperative estimation methods (combinations of algorithms and distributed estimation) lead to improved performance, relative to traditional methods. This gain is obtained through the information exchange between different estimators operating in parallel, allowing for better use of the available data. However, the use of several estimators in parallel leads to a significant increase in computational complexity, reducing the number of applications in which the methods can be used. In this work, we intend to study and develop methods for the reduction of the computational cost in cooperative estimation, mainly through the manipulation of the information that is exchanged between the algorithms.
