Abstract This project is aimed at the study and development of a multi-sensor platform for the acquisition and analysis of oceanographic, climatic and chemical data, among other offshore industrial applications. This platform also has in view the formation of a monitoring network, having the main equipment as a node. The development is relevant not only because of the great extension of the Brazilian seaside, but also because of the high costs involved and the few options of available commercial equipment.The development of a platform of this kind involves challenges such as the functioning autonomy of the offshore equipment, that would be based on its estimated power consumption, for which it will be conducted an study and analysis of the available technology for data storage and energy transmission. Another fundamental part is related to data transmission. A study and analysis of the current available techniques is expected, such as data transmission using wireless networks, acoustic modems, wired data transmission, mixed networks, etc.; in order to have access to the acquired data, eventually in real time. Besides the technological challenges, there is logistic and economic matters that need to be taken into consideration, in order to make possible the installation and usage of underwater sensor networks. | |
