Abstract

The discovery of new compounds with chemical and biological interest has decreased substantially over the last two decades. The approaches to obtain biologically active compounds based only on rational synthesis and combinatorial chemistry have shown in a certain way to be inefficient. In this context, once more natural sources became attractive to industry and academy. At the same time, with the development of analytical techniques, the separation, isolation and, therefore, identification time of compounds from natural sources have decreased. Thus, the need for development of compound, extract and fraction collections to the search for bioactive components, dereplication as well as computational studies arises. Thus, this work aims to develop a pure compound library as well as a plant extract library from the plant family Asteraceae. For this purpose, about 150 natural pure compounds and 300 plant extracts will be cataloged together additional informations. All extracts will be previously selected through chromatographic profiling and molecular masses of their components in order to assure a broader diversity. A chromatographic method will be developed and validated to allow UPLC-UV-MS analysis of compounds and extracts that will compose both libraries. Moreover, NMR spectra will be also obtained. The resulting data will be properly inserted onto BADAPRON (BAnco de DAdos de PROdutos Naturais - Natural Products Data Base). It is expected through this work to develop diversified and unique libraries that will enable advance in research for the search of novel as well as bioactive compounds.
