Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of tubular density and diameter of different dentinal depths on the bond strength of two high viscosity Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC). Twenty-third molars will be allocated in 6 experimental groups, according to dentinal depths - proximal, occlusal superficial or deep, and GIC used - Fuji IX or Ketac" Molar Easy Mix. Initially, the teeth will be cut in order to get slices of approximately 1 mm of the thickness of each dentinal area. After that, a topographical analysis of sections for obtaining data on the diameter and tubular density of different surfaces and depths will be conducted in confocal microscopy (100 X). After surface pre-treatment, a microtube will be mounted over the dentin surface. The microtube will be filled with GIC and after 24h storage at 37°C the microshear test will be performed (1mm/min). Subsequently, the analysis of fracture patterns will be held in a stereo-microscope (400X). Two-way ANOVA will be performed if the data distribution is normal and Kruskal Wallis test if data is not normal. The level of significance will be set at 5%. (AU)
