Abstract

This project studies the theme of valuing diversity within Christianism from the proposed theme: Divergences and convergences - portraits of a plural Christianism from John 1:1-14. Therefore, aims to discuss the issue of plurality from a Christian biblical text (John 1:1-14: Johannine Prologue) marked by the overcoming of intolerance and sectarianism. In order accomplish it, it beings the proposal of faith of the Johannine community forward its plural reality. This analysis will start from a study of exegetical and hermeneutical pericope of John 1:1-14, besides biographic searches, it seeks fundamental elements for valuing the plurality today. The project will be developed in three stages: the approach of the pericope of John 1:1-14; the reconstruction of everyday Johannine community, and a new paradigm for the overcoming of the sectarian and intolerant Christianism today. Authors such as Johan Konings, Charles Dodd, Werner Georg Kummel, Raymond Edward Brown, among others, will be the basis for this research and approach. It is expected, with this research to contribute with studies in the theology field. This study is part of the research group Minority Expressions of Christianity in Egypt and Galilee, led by Prof. Dr. Paulo Roberto Garcia who, since 2010, has included the region of Transjordan a research spot.
