Abstract

Devices or principles of composition from related arts can expand the creation process of an artist. The idea of experimenting various composition devices can also reveal a range of possibilities of how to see and explore the materialities used in a certain work. This research intends to travel between different territories to investigate the possibilities of the intersection of dance with composition devices from related arts. Here, dance is seen as an embodied perfomative art. The dance composition becomes a territory of experimentation that dissolves the boundaries between languages. This intersection occurs without ignoring or abandoning the specificities found in each one, but investigates possibilities of composition in a space of action, in a performative space. In this sense, this research proposes a theoretical and practical study about the intersection between dance and the concept of performative. Aiming to expand the study about the scenic creation, is intended to analyze some devices composition of three artists: the filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein, the composer John Cage and the painter Wassily Kandinsky. To develop this project, three methodological stages are adopted: the first stage is related to the studies of compositional devices from the three selected artists; the second stage comprises the experimental research and the third refers to a critical articulation between materials that will emerge from the preceding stages.
