Abstract

Studies involving DNA sequences have become excellent tools to assist in the study of variations between populations of different species. Both phylogeography and phylogeny have made important contributions to the understanding of the evolution of populations, species and communities of neotropical fishes in different environments. Thus this proposal aims to establish the phylogenetic and phylogeographic relations of the populations of the species Phalloceros reisi belonging to the rivers from the basin of the Alto Rio Paraná and the Costeira basin, as well as to evaluate the occurrence of genetic structure of the populations.
