Abstract

The objective of this study "businessman state Argentine in the railroad industry of the twentieth century", will be developed at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, in to posdoctorado en Ciencias Humanas y Sociales de la Facultad de Filosofia y Letras de la UBA, is to analyze the role of businessman state Argentine in the process of expropriation (nationalization in the 1940s) and the "privatization" of the Argentine railroads in the 1990s. "The hypothesis is that State intervention in the sector is not just mere dismantling operations. Such actions were determined by the needs for adjustments to the new form of reproduction of capital, based on industrialization and the increased internationalization of production when changing the mode of circulation. The takeover of the rail system is treated how one of those moments that the sector is no longer profitable for private investors. At time the Argentine government for decades acted how entrepreneur rail; period when the railroads it came to reformulate its business until the moment when, in the 1990s, private economic interests have came again to the sector, in an undeniable proof that those companies were, again, attractive to private investors.
