Abstract

In this project, we propose the study of landscape of the area of 12 archaeological sites, all of them situated in the north of the state of São Paulo, precisely in the cities of Guaíra, Miguelopólis and Barretos, which are lithic and litho-ceramic sites. We intend to carry out this study through landscape archaeology. It will not only concern the landscape and the lithic collections but also ceramics in such sites, as well as it will collect data on ethno-historical reports available regarding to the people who first inhabited the region. The outcomes resulted from the landscape analysis, regional ethno-history and material culture will be explored in order to comprehend relevant matters about the regional pattern of settlement. For this purpose, this project counts on a literature review as well as on fieldwork, in the areas of the archaeological sites, and analysis of panoramic photos, aerial photographs and satellite images. In order to systematize the data, it will be used spreadsheet programs and Geographic Information System (GIS): ArcGIS and Spring. Concerning the analysis of lithic collections and ceramics, we aim to use reconstitution approaches of the operational chains, production of artifacts, so that we understand how the acquisition of raw materials, production, use and disposal of instruments from a technological analysis occurred.
