The alcohol furfuryl resin is a thermoset resin with wide application, ranging from adhesives to carbonaceous materials. This resin grade furans has been valued for being considered a bioresin and be relatively inexpensive. Although the nanostructured composite processing from the furfuryl alcohol resin with carbon nanotubes (NTC) has already been reported in the literature, processing of carbon / carbon composites with NTC has been little exploited. Thus, this work has as main goal, process and characterize carbon / carbon composites obtained from furfuryl alcohol resin and NTC. Due to the difficulty in NTC dispersing into resin associated with an increase in viscosity, the nanotubes are added during synthesis of furfuryl resin. To improve the interaction between the matrix and the NTC, this reinforcement will be functionalized with furfuryl alcohol. Using this route, will be processed carbon / carbon composites with different content of carbon nanotubes (0.1, 0.5 and 1% in weight). These will be characterized buy using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrical tests. Most activities will be developed in the Department of Materials Technology, Faculty of Engineering Guaratinguetá - UNESP, however, the electrical measurements will be conducted in partnership with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
