Abstract

This research project, with a term of six months, aims to study the press coverage produced by the newspapers Diário de Bauru and Correio da Noroeste about the succession of political events involving the national civil-military coup of 1964. The proposal consists in reading the existing archive editions and published between January first and December thirty-first of 1964, and therefore, in making an analysis about political positioning of each newspaper, comparing them, and identifying the relationship between press and power during that period. As a way to achieve this goal, this research intends to analyze all news and columns that have focused the issue of national policy and its relationship with the local city of Bauru. (AU)
