Abstract
Materials based on layered niobates have been studied mainly due to the high catalytic activity and selectivity in chemical processes involving heterogeneous catalysis. Although their electrical properties have not been investigated so far, they have potential for many applications, such as electrochemical sensors, lithium battery electrodes, supercapacitors and also in photochemical reactions for biofuels production. The possibility of (i) ion exchange with incorporation and transport of charge carriers in the interlayer region, (ii) exfoliation and (iii) production of nanoscrolls are some particular characteristics of niobates that allow a glance of obtaining new materials with optimized electrochemical properties. In this project, three different types of conductors will be studied: 1) solid acid proton conductors of composition H2M2Nb6O17·H2O (M = K, Rb, Cs) and HNb3O8·H2O (layered hexaniobates and triniobates, respectively), 2) lithium ion conductors of composition Li1+xNb1-xO2 (0 | |
