Abstract

From the 1930s Brazil initiated a change of its economic axis, which went from agricultural exporter to urban-industrial. The origins and the internal and external factors that allowed this change as well as the advantages provided to the social, economic, and political progress are diverse. Thus, we aim to review the currents of thought that sought to explain the national industrialization from 1930, with the aim to analyze the existence or not of an industrialization project in this period. We will give attention to the classic thesis of Celso Furtado and the analysis of the thought of contemporary authors, such as Pedro Cezar Dutra Fonseca e Pedro Bastos. (AU)
