Abstract

This research proposes an analysis of Anne Bogart´s career as a theatre director at the SITI Company, theatre company founded in 1992 in the United States. From the concept of "Actor Training", it will be analysed her artistic collaborations which resulted in a renewed methodology for the theatre directing, focused on the Composition Method. This approach broadened the possibilities for the practice of theatre directing. The main diference, regarding to tradicional approaches of theatre directing, is the idea of softening power decisions concerning the artistic result. In these cases, it's not limited to a diretor providing conditions to the actors. Also, other collaborating artists can work as a group in a regime of shared responsabilities. Bogart (2005) argues that this conduction suggests fresh ways of making choices onstage, problematizing hierarchical positions often exercised by the artists on their theatre productions.
