Abstract

Nowadays, Brazil is passing trough an intense expansion process of pulp production and, bound to it, tree monoculture. From spatial point of view, the transference of initial stages of paper productive chain to the peripheral countries, at the global plan, and the pulp industry interiorization at the brazilian territory are the main phenomena evidenced by this process. At this context, several (mega)achievements of the segment were announced through the last decade and at the beginning of this one, having in common, among other aspects, the overwhelming production scale, the formation of big land extensions for the territorialization of monoculture integrated to agro-processing plants and the choice of places away from the dynamic center of national economic, but that offer a set of locational attributes and favorable logistic to production costs reduction. Facing this, the present project aims to comprehend the geographic dynamic of pulp production in Brazil at the begging of the 21th century, and its interiorization process, basing at the analysis of its relationship with the territory and with the workforce, subsumed and degraded on its realization process. The question that will lead the research are founded at the investigation starting from three thematic axes: a) pulp production current spatial dynamic (global e brazilian); b) the relationship of pulp production and the territorial resources spoliation; and c) the relationship of pulp production, work process and social relations precariousness. About the methodological aspects, the research can be referred as qualitative and founded on a critic theoretical matrix. The scientific reference will be oriented for the geographic dynamic understanding of metabolic relation firmed by the society and nature under the aegis of capital destructivism, emphasizing its main antagonism, contradictions and territorial shocks starting from the cellulose production at the expansion areas in the brazilian territory.
