Abstract

Hypsiboas albopunctatus has a wide distribution and can be found in shrubs near wetlands and on the banks of streams. Studies with liver and spleen are important due to their metabolic functions, hematopoietic and detoxification. Already testicles, are organs responsible for the reproductive success of animals. Melanomacrophages are cell aggregates with the main function to phagocytose material from catabolism. They contain substances such as melanin, hemosiderin, and lipofuscin, derived from the degradation of phagocytosed cellular material. The benzo [alfa] pyrene (BaP) is one of the most important Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) which is detected in water, soil, waste, and sewage sludge. BaP affects aquatic animals and marine ecosystems and is mutagenic and carcinogenic. The objectives of this work are: to describe the anatomy and histology of the liver and spleen; evaluate the effect of benzo [alfa] pyrene in melanomacrophage of the liver and spleen, quantify hemosiderin and lipofuscin and evaluate how the compound affects spermatogenesis. For this will be analyzed 36 adult specimens of Hypsiboas albopunctatus (Anura: Hylidae). The experiment will be conducted in the times of 3 and 7 days, where the experimental group will receive two concentrations of BaP, which were of 3mg/Kg and 7mg/Kg. The animals will be euthanized and the organs weighed on an analytical balance. Following will be the procedures for inclusion in histories of the liver, spleen, and testis. The techniques used will be: PAS, reticulin, HE and toluidine blue. (AU)
