Abstract

Nowadays, at Sorocaba, where constant changes are visible in the urban landscape and space appreciation is increasing due to the installation of the Toyota plant in the county, add the paucity of studies on this topic due to its recent occasionality, the reasons why I decided to dedicate me to this.Moreover, the identity with the city that I was born (Sorocaba - SP) and in recent years has undergone profound transformations, was another reason to motivate me in develop this research, to contribute to the historical record of the town so that future sorocabenses generations to understand the dynamics and the changes that had been settled along with Toyota. The focus of this research is the analysis and understanding of the valuation process and the transformation of urban space in terms ofinfrastructure from the Toyota plant in the northern city of Sorocaba. Therefore, understanding the spatial rearrangements is to understand how the city is changing the face of needs and / or wants social, political and / or economic conditions over time, thus making the central issue of this paper.Characterized as a major hub of regional tertiary sector, Sorocaba is in a moment in ascension, in which there is a generalized process of valuation space, linked to real estate and construction, which, in part, encouraged and promoted the coming of large companies the example of the Japanesemultinational, Toyota, treated here as a key to a new development phase of Sorocaba and major transformations in the urban landscape, in light of new uses and meanings given to space. Just as large companies were attracted by the favorable condition of the Sorocaba city, installing these companies attracted even more the real estate and construction, especially in the region where they settled, as in the case of Toyota, located in the north of the city.Thus, Sorocaba is in the moment that expands its urban sprawl and simultaneously sees the appreciation of space and extends influence theeveryday population.
