Abstract

The contemporary society is characterized by the strong capacity for modifying the landscape, transforming it according to the demands of the means of production and socioeconomic context. In many of these actions, if not properly planned and the space properly studied, the environmental consequences be negative, especially if dealing with water resources. This study aims to understand the impacts caused by the anthropic action in the marginal of vale do rio Pirajibu basin, which is located in the region of Sorocaba, draining rural areas and sectors with intense urbanization. The work will be performed with procedures related to environmental geomorphology, with elaboration of thematic maps, use of morphometric rates, field work, under the systemic approach, and with the watershed as a unit of analysis. It seeks to understand how the processes involved in the relief in various geomorphologic units operate in conjunction with the dynamic waterway, concomitant with the influences of human action, especially the urbanized areas. It is expected to analyze more complex on the conflicts that human action can have on the fragile environmental system of a course river. (AU)
