Abstract

Migraine is the most recurrent headache of the world and is characterized as a throbbing unilateral headache, moderate to severe intensity, associated with nausea, photophobia and phonophobia. Usually, migraine begins as the episodic form, less than 14 days per month, but it may become chronic, more than 15 days per month. Among the chronification risk factors figures the cutaneous allodynia, defined as pain perception or discomfort to a non nociceptive stimulus, with eighty percent prevalence in migraineurs. Also, cutaneous allodynia may be involved on fail or unsuccessful of medication migraine therapy. The aim of this study is evaluate the cutaneous allodynia frequency and severity in episodic and chronic migraneurs. For this purpose, we will apply the 12 item Allodynia Symptom Cheklist/Brasil, a 12 item questionnaire about discomfort during migraine attack on specif daily activities. We want to investigate if there are differences on the cutaneous allodynia frequency and severity distribution between the two groups.
