Abstract

Corticotomy has the mechanism of bone metabolism induced by cutting lines and points around the tooth, causing the bone regeneration process and thus improve its remodeling. The objective of this study was to identify, through computed microtomography, the effect of corticotomy on orthodontic movement. This theory is supported by the Regional Phenomenon Accelerator (Rapid Accelleratory Phenomenon - RAP), in other words, a transitional stage and located in bone regeneration. The main role of RAP is the formation of young bone, which improves stability after any type of bone injury. This acceleration of normal activities, both in hard and in soft tissue, aims to enhance the healing tissue and defensive reactions. Will be used forty-five Whistar type mice, distributed randomly into Control Group (CG, n = 15), Movement Group (MG, n = 15) and Cortycotomy Group (COG, n = 15). The surgery was performed, after the animals were under anesthesia with ketamine hydrochloride and xylazine hydrochloride, from an incision with a scalpel, disto-mesially to the first molar mouse and 10mm in length. The corticotomy was made with five holes using diamond cutter ¼ milling at low speed on irrigation with saline. It will be computed microtomography performed on days 1, 3, 5 and 7 and also to visualize histological analysis of the results.
