Abstract

Forest biomes fragmentation is a worldwide problem and it has been affected the survival of many arboreal species and populations a cross the world. Because of the high level of fragmentation of the G. americana habitats in the State of São Paulo, a part (portion; for a larger group) of the natural populations have become extinct, it puts the species among the list of the endangered species of the Atlantic Forest. Besides the species presents an extensive natural distribution in Brazil, currently remains only a reduced (short) number of specimen on natural occurrence. As strategy for conservation proposed the ex-situ and of the strategies to evaluate the genetic variation ex-situ stands out quantitative genetics used to estimate genetic parameters of some silvicultural characters. Besides of it for the effectivation of any conservation genetic program of a specie it is fundamental the knowledge of the levels and the distribution of the population genetic variability. The objective of this study is to investigate the intrapopulation genetic structure and genetic diversity, measure the behavior of G. americana individuals from three different states of the country with progeny test, estimate genetic variability between and inside of the populations, measure the plants that are infested by diseases, contributing with valious information to the management of natural fragmented populations in addition to contributing to the genetic improvement and conservation ex-situ. The amount of progenies that is part of the progeny test is of 21 trees from a natural population of G. americana from Mata da Figueira in the Ecological Station of Mogi- Guaçu, fifteen remaining trees from Selviria city in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul and one tree from Porto Seguro in the State of Bahia. The progeny test of G. americana was implemented on 2004 in the Fazenda de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão da Faculdade de Engenharia de Ilha Solteira (FEIS/UNESP). (AU)
