Abstract

Studies on ecology and population genetics are fundamental to understand the effects of fragmentation on the forest species. A study based on microsatellite markers will be performed to estimate parameters of genetic diversity, spatial genetic structure, mating system and gene flow in natural populations and progeny tests of G. americana L., conservation programs aimed and genetic improvement of the species. The sampling will be carried out in two populations: the first (POP-SE) is located in the northeast of the country, in a transition area between the Atlantic Forest and Caatinga (Arauá / SE) and the second (POP - SP) in the southeast, in one Active Germplasm Bank, a transition area between the rainforest, represented by Semideciduous Forest and Cerrado (Rosana / SP ), which proves the ecological plasticity of the species under study. Young leaves, used for the analysis of microsatellite trees will be collected on 30 mothers and 20 plants / progeny in each of the populations. For this, we will use up to 8 SSR markers are being developed for the species. The analysis of the mating system will be conducted based on the mixed-mating model, correlated mating model and using paternity analysis. These results give an indication of the potential of these individuals for in situ conservation, collecting seeds for the formation of genebanks, as well as for collection of seeds from mother trees for recovery of degraded areas and future genetic improvement programs in areas of transition between different biomes.
