Abstract

The decreased use of fish oil and meal, due to the high cost of these ingredients considering the decline of fish stocks, directed to researches involving alternative sources such as vegetable products. These substitutions modifies the chemical, physiological and structural aspects of fish farming. A combination of sesamin-soluble compound, from the sesame oil with vegetable oils added to diets lead to increased DHA concentrations in muscle of some freshwater species, such as rainbow trout. The vitamin B complex, such as biotin and pantothenic acid, are involved in various processes related to the animal metabolism. Thus, the main objectives of this project are: growth performance, physiology (blood glucose and liver glycogen content), as well as liver histology of Lambaris (Astyanax altiparanae) fed diets containing different oil sources (soy, flaxseed , sesame oil and fish residue) supplemented with vitamins biotin and pantothenic acid for a period of 70 days (AU)
