Abstract

Painting and Literature are the demonstrations of language that open space for different perceptions in the world. The Romanticism, which is among the artistic expressions that are important for the human history, was a time of intensive production and large culture innovations. Transformations, which occurred during that period, modified the vision about the artistic representation, causing reflections until contemporary arts. On the other side the modern art period also is marked by innovations in the language, which inspire us to look for and to ponder for a better comprehension about the contemporary and even about the previous aesthetics, such as the Romanticism. The research project here presented has its main focus on Romanticism art period, especially, the pictorial production of Caspar David Friedrich, which will be studied in contra position to the modern poetry of Manoel de Barros. The main objective of this research is to establish a dialogue between these two artists through the representation of the sublime in nature, as well as the traits of Friedrich in the modern poetry and also the way that the poetic of Manoel de Barros amplifies the possibilities of reflections over the Romanticism art. Besides that there will be a search for the specificities of each production inside the German and Brazilian scenery. The search assumes as a methodology the critical-theoretical-comparative study of pictorial and literary artistic manifestations connected to not only the Romanticism art but also to the modern poetry.
