Abstract

The objective of the research is investigating the multiples meanings of the terms "goths" and "franks" in Merovingian and Visigothic sources attempting to their uses as a discursive topoi in a context of political tensions. The research is related with the contemporary historiographical debates about ethnic identities in the Medieval Western Europe. During our stay in Padova (Università degli Studi di Padova) under the supervision of Prof. Maria Cristina La Rocca we aim the improvement of our research through approaches to Archaeological studies and contact with the most significant libraries and archives of Italy.
