Abstract

Dengue fever is a febrile illness that affects thousands of people every year and is considered a major public health problem. The presence of the vector in Araraquara was detected almost 30 years ago and, lately, the city has been presenting an increase in the number of reported cases of the disease. Tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial regression and geostatistics have allowed researchers to understand the spatial distribution of vector and disease, clarifying possible risk factors. The objective of this study is evaluate the spatial distribution of the cases and vector infestation in Araraquara - São Paulo in the years 2008-2012, and check the trend of these indices in the years 2013-2015. It will also be possible to investigate the relationship between dengue incidence and socioeconomic, demographic, environmental and climate variables. In addition, the study will verify in space and space-time, possible clusters of dengue cases and will enable analyze what happens in these places over the rest of the municipality. In order to achieve these objectives we will perform statistical analyzes interpolation to generate maps containing the incidences and vector infestation by study period. A spatial regression analysis will be conducted. To detect clusters of dengue cases, we use the statistical technique of Scan. Thus, this study will allow understanding the behavior of dengue in Araraquara over the years and direct measures of prevention, control and surveillance. (AU)
