Abstract

The autopsy has been used since the beginning of medicine and it has great applicability in diverse areas such as the identification of the basic cause of death and gross and microscopic pathologic changes; such as epidemiological tools, teaching tools,s and quality control of patient care and general health. In recent years, a conventional autopsy is being complemented by tools such as imaging techniques, particularly CT conventional and angiography associated, MRI, among others. Although most studies with imaging post-mortem are related to forensic aspects, there are studies focusing on cases of the non-violent cause of death that enabled the correlation anatomo-clinical-radiological, promoting an improvement in data quality post-mortem obtained. Recent studies show that the performance of such imaging in fetuses and children, is not only applicable as, to some aspects, has greater sensitivity and specificity of radiological and pathological correlations when compared to those performed in adults. Thus, we believe that procedures that complement conventional autopsy can increase the sensitivity and specificity of diagnosis postmortem, enabling better clinical-anatomic correlations radiological. Patients and Methods: We will prospectively analyze all individuals under 20 years of age who died incomplete tertiary HCFMUSP in the period May to December 2013. Initially will be collected and organized clinical data of patients' records relevant to the study. All cases will be subjected to whole-body CT and subsequently analyzed by a radiologist experienced in pediatric imaging. After acquiring tomographic will be performed conventional autopsy with their respective report including macroscopic and microscopic findings and thread of pathological processes found. The radiological and pathological data will complement the database that will be submitted to the following analyzes: 1 - descriptive of the main diagnoses observed clinical-anatomopathological and tomographically 2 - radiological and pathological correlation, 3 - Clinical and radiological correlation and 4 - Clinical and pathological correlation.
