Abstract

This project aims to study the mechanisms associated to the origin of the solar sympathetic flares and their evidence in the sub-THz frequencies. These events are characterized as occurring almost simultaneously in two different active regions apparently connected by magnetic tubes. One event is apparently the result of the distant disturbance event by some coupling processes not well understood. There are examples of sympathetic bursts seen by the Submillimeter-Wave Solar Telescope (SST) located in the Complejo Astronómico El Leoncito (CASLEO). We will study the possible mechanisms of the distant triggering of a flare by another remote explosion, using new evidences obtained at high frequencies of 212 and 405 GHz. Two possible sympathetic events of March 8th, 2011 and November 11th, 2012 will be the study cases. The analysis of these events will look for possible physical links between the distant active regions, which may explain the triggering of one event by the other one, at a remote location in the solar disk. This information will be confronted and verified with other instruments for solar observations at different wavelengths, such as Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager (RHESSI) (at X-rays) and Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) (at EUV), in order to improve the understanding and explain the possible causes of mechanisms involved in these sympathetic events.
