Abstract

Objective: the general aim of this study is propose, evaluate and validate the use of the voiding diary as a tool for assessment and monitoring of patients with neurogenic bladder in use of intermittent urinary catheters. Methodology: after ethical agreement, the research will be conducted in stages at the Rehabilitation Centre in the Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (CER/HCFMRP-USP), with patients older than 18 years, with neurogenic bladder, in use of urinary catheterization and / or their caregivers. Four different stages will be conducted as follow. Stage 1: Raise the social, economical and educational characters of the population assisted through the characterization records that patients and caregivers completed during the nursing consultation. Stage 2: Based on literature review, propose and validate by experts in appearance and content the voiding diary elaborated. Stage 3: Through structured data collection instrument check the evaluation of patients with neurogenic bladder in use of intermittent urinary catheters and / or their caregivers regarding the proposed voiding diary. Stage 4: After fabrication of the diaries and distribution to patients and / or caregivers of service for a period of three months identify through diaries and returned of the instrument already used, the difficulties in completing the voiding diary. Data analysis: data collected will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and the final results will be presented in the form of discursive report.
