Abstract

This project involves the study of the notion of genius Fernando Pessoa. Delimits the objective of identifying and analyzing their scope and degree of penetration of both the aesthetic and poetic formulations of the author. The work is divided into three fronts, which define the methodology used and cut the corpus investigation. The first, which developed during the graduate studies, addresses the ethos of the "man of genius" in letters to João Gaspar Simões, Adolfo Casais Monteiro and Armando Côrtes-Rodrigues. We also sought to present the crystallization of an image of author from the perspective of the critical Pessoa, specifically Gaspar Simões, Casais Monteiro, Jacinto do Prado Coelho and Eduardo Lourenço, considered here as critical to understanding the fundamental myth-Pessoa. The second front of the paper proposes the analysis of theoretical texts from the perspective of Individual Genius in detail the writings on the Bacon-Shakespeare question, meeting the critical edition of Jerônimo Pizzaro, and the texts on the subject that are in the Páginas de doutrina estética (Select, pref., and notes by Jorge de Sena), Páginas íntimas e de auto-Interpretação, and in Páginas de textos de estética e de teoria e crítica literárias (Select, pref and notes by Georg Rudolf Lind and Jacinto do Prado Coelho). The third front will focus on the study of the works Mensagem (organization and introduction of Caio Gagliardi) and Primeiro Fausto (organization and introduction of Duílio Colombini). We will review the appropriations that person did Carlyle, especially the famous conferences around the Heroes, and the implications of the ethos of the "mad genius" in Primeiro Fausto.
