In Brazil, Economic Journalism was strengthened in the military dictatorship, between 1964 and 1985, when Political Journalism suffered a strong censorship from the system, and economic development created new consumers of news about Economy. With Brazilian redemocratization, after 1985, Economy editorial kept in focus, diversifying its coverage for businesses, investments, market, and services. This paper has the objective to evaluate media coverage regarding the privatization process of state enterprises on two of the ex-president Fernando Henrique Cardoso's mandates, between 1995, and 2002. The research, qualitative source, intends to examine what, and how were narrated the facts about this process on four of the most seen weekly Brazilian magazines (Veja, IstoÉ, Carta Capital, and Época), considering facts, approach, versions, regarding media importance on social imaginary formation. The paper meets Stuart Hall (2004/2007) Cultural Studies, and it will be structured as a study of multiple instances considering Wolton's (2004, 2006) teorical references and the limits between argumatation and manipulation of the word (Breton, 1995).
