Abstract

This project aims at developing a 4-month short term research involving experiments with high-resolution scanning electrochemical microscopy (HR-SECM) at the University of Pittsburgh under the supervision of Dr. Shigeru Amemiya. The HR-SECM is a scanning probe technique, but a nanopipet is used as a tip and its response is based on the current measurement generated during the transfer of an ion across a liquid/liquid interface. A main advantage of this instrument is that it allows obtaining images with higher resolution (nanometer) and, consequently, more localized information about the substrate than conventional SECM.
