Abstract

Deoxysugars are often seen as structural components in natural products. Important antibiotic, antifungal, antiparasitic and antitumor possessing these sugars linked to the aglycone moiety of the molecule. Typically these sugars are involved in the recognition of the active site and, therefore, their presence on the structures of natural products is in most cases connected with biological activity. Microorganisms of the genus Streptomyces exhibit a remarkable ability to produce secondary metabolites glycosylated, example, the cosmomycin D produced by Streptomyces olindensis. The cosmomycin D is a compound very promising due to its antitumor activity. Based on these data, their work will use various tools such as molecular biology, biotransformation and elicitation in an attempt to get new glycosylated bioactive compounds.Key words: Streptomyces olindensis, secondary metabolites; cosmomycin D; bioactivity; biotransformation; elicitation.
