Abstract

This project proposes the study of national-universal dialectics in Brazilian literature, considering its development in post-modernity and in the production of four contemporary Brazilian novelists. It comprises the various identities of Brazilian novel in the current context, where nacionality and universality blend and dialogue with the hybridization of cultures. Also it intends to understand how the theme and the form of memoir-novel is aesthetically performed in the analysed texts, considering the actual setting of post-modernist narratives. These aspects will be approached in the second novels: Milton Hatoum s "Dois irmãos" (2000); Luiz Ruffato s "Mamma, son tanto Felice" (2005); Bernardo Carvalho s "O sol se põe em São Paulo" (2007) and Michel Laub s "Diário da queda" (2011).
