Abstract

Obesity, nowadays, is one of the biggest health problems, which affects not only adults, but also children, achieving, in some areas, epidemic conditions. It is known that nutrition is a complex phenomenon with multiple determinants, such as socioeconomic, cultural, biological and psychological. Concerning psychological one, nutrition has a strong relation with mother figure and child developing alterations related to this relation are one of obesity etiologic factors. Analyzing women's participation at the society in the last decades, it is noticed that it has suffer a lot of modifications; however, nutrition still associated with mother figure, which could be due memories of being a mother brought from the previous generation. So, trough this study, it is intended to understand the experiences related to the nutrition of mothers of obese children with their own mothers and how this relationship can influence the care of the nutrition of their children. The study will have a qualitative approach, the semi- structured interviews as technical data acquired and the Children's Institute of Sao Paulo University Medicine Faculty as the selecting participants local. Acquired data will be transcribed and analyzed, in order to understand the phenomenon. (AU)
