Abstract

The International Parent Survey (IPS) is an online research with parents about aspects of family life and parenting. The IPS was developed to fill the gap in the assessment of parenting, since there is no current research on the preferences and needs of parents at a population level and with international comparisons, aiming potential risk factors for changes and that may be controlled to over time, as an intervention is implemented. The present study aims to conduct a survey about parental needs and preferences and it is part of a study that aims to evaluate the possibility of a future IPS in Brazil. Participants will be 200 parents of children aged 0-10 years, in a cross-sectional design. Whereas many parents Brazilians do not possess internet access in their residences, the research will be held in an association municipal using a notebook with internet access. Data collection involves applying a questionnaire to be responded online by Brazilians parents. The questionnaire may include questions about: parenting styles, the child's behavior and their emotional difficulties, parental efficacy, parental emotional difficulties (depression, anxiety, stress), parental preferences about support services (if they think it is necessary and which type of program they want). The data will be integrated into a survey system (Qualtrix), which has analysis tools. The statistical analysis will be held with SPSS.
