Abstract

The development in Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) in recent decades enabled the detection and studies in a few molecules regime, called Single Molecule SERS (SM-SERS). The research field of SM-SERS has changed from proof-of-principle studies and now is engaged in a new mature era, targeting the obtainment of molecular properties extracted from the SM-SERS data (without deviate its fundamental and principles studies). In this context, this post-doctorate project proposes the development of a methodology to determine the adsorption equilibrium constant employing SM-SERS. It is proposed the evaluation of possible differences between the adsorption constants obtained through SM-SERS and an electrochemical methodology (molecules ensemble) enabling the comprehension of the role of intermolecular interactions and surface energy over the adsorption equilibrium constant.
