Abstract

Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) has been defined as pain in the lower abdomen or pelvis, not exclusively menstrual, lasting at least six months, intense enough to interfere with usual activities, requiring medical treatment and / or surgical . The prevalence of CPP in the city of Ribeirão Preto-SP is higher, 11.5%. The movement dysfunction may be a comorbid, a cause or a consequence of pain. Moreover, pain and movement are part of an integrated system which is mediated by cognitive, emotional and social aspects. The assessment at a functional level tests an individual's ability to combine a series of movements (as opposed to a single movement of a joint in a single plane) securely and efficiently to complete a task, or evaluate the function of the person, rather than part of it. The compromised ability to perform certain tasks probably affects the quality of life and limits the clinical options for a multidisciplinary approach. The objectives are to evaluate the physical performance of women with CPP and to identify the prevalence of functional limitations in this population and clinical variables associated with physical performance. The cross-sectional study provides the inclusion of 200 subjects: 100 women attending the outpatient clinic of HCFMRP-USP and suffering from chronic pelvic pain and 100 healthy women recruited among accompanying of patients who are treated in the outpatient setting. The project and the term of free and informed consent were approved in CEP-HCFMRP-USP.
