Abstract INTRODUCTION: Hearing loss may cause to the individual psychosocial impairments and whenthis cause is associated to tinnitus it may interferes on the quality of life in a way significantlycausing a loss communicative, social activities in work, leisure and activities of daily living dueto can interfere significantly on quality of life. Support hearing, such as a hearing aids (HA)has been used in order to minimize the effects of hearing impairment. Nowadays there arehearing aids with noise generator being disseminated strongly in the market, introducing theprinciple of inhibition of this symptom that has already reached the level of awareness,allowing habituation happens, so that the brain classify the ringing as meaningless andunimportant that the affected individual ignore the presence of same. OBJECTIVES: To assessthe effectiveness of the sound generator in the treatment of tinnitus in subjects with andwithout hearing loss and evaluate the quality of life of individuals before and after theintervention. METHODOLOGY: The study will be developed in Clinical of language SpeechPathology and audiologuy, Faculty of Dentistry of Bauru (FOB), USP, after the approval of theinstitutional review board, and patient consent for participation in the research. Will beassessed 30 patients with tinnitus were divided into two groups, group 1 (G1) consisted of 15subjects with normal hearing, and group 2 (G2) for 15 individuals diagnosed with hearing loss.Both will be subject to the same examination: anamnesis, diagnostic audiology composed ofhigh-frequency audiometry, tympanometry and acuphenometry. The questionnaires will beTinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL),Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and assessment of speech perception with using the Hearing inNoise Test (HINT). All procedures will be performed before and after the intervention hearing.The results will be tabulated and described in accordance with the descriptive statisticalanalysis of quantitative and qualitative variables nominal and ordinal. THE data analysis will beperformed based on statistical or inductive inference. | |
