Abstract

The Glued-laminated timber, even if its use has been effectuated in more than a century, still isn't properly explored in Brazil, where even existing a lot of species, most of them are not commercially used because we don't know their properties and performance as a structural material. The same occurs when treating about alternatives adhesives, there's a variety of them but little study and knowledge as its structural efficiency. The project aims to evaluate the shear strength in the glue line of body-of-proof made of Pinus hondurensis and glued with a polyurethane alternative adhesive, for use in glued laminated timber (glulam). The evaluation will be performed by shear tests on body-of-proof glued. The results will be analyzed by comparing them with tests already carried out by other researchers. The tests follow the recommendations of ISO 7190/97 "Project Timber Structures". The research focus is a single component and environmentally friendly adhesive, commercially known by SikaBond ®-T54 FC. The results will suggest whether or not the possibility of using the adhesive studied in glulam structures. (AU)
