Abstract

The present Scientific Iniciation project is part of a broader research project: "Theregional issues in the new national sanitation regulatory framework of Brazil: in search of a sustainable urban waters governance model", coordinated by professor Marcelo Vargas. It will work as an auxiliary research of this broader project specially focused on the urban water governance problems of a specific region, with its own water stakeholders and institutional arrangements: the Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiaí riverbasin. It aims to make an assessment of the actual situation of water availability, demand and quality in this riverbasin, retrieving as well its evolution in the last two decades, since the creation of this riverbasin committee, based upon secondary data collection and analysis derived from oficial agencies documents.
