Abstract

Currently, the economic news are totally related with the political conduction of the country. Therefore, it can interfere, positively or negatively, on the evaluation of government. The objective of this research proposal is to prove that the incorporation of values to news, that are apparently true and reliable, occurs frequently more on the fast reading (related with the titles, subtitles, the use of info graphics and images) than in the deep one (the body of the text). Using Visual Journalism, we propose to study the economic news based on the typography, photography, illustrations and video recordings, incorporating the verbal journalistic material with images. The main focus is to investigate how both reading speeds have been used as an instrument to manipulate information that are apparently neutral, especially when it is about figures and reliable sources. Accordingly with that, this research intends to analyses the Visual Journalism that is usual on the main economic journals and magazines in the country, identifying editorial standards and possible associations between the fast reading and the deep one.
