Abstract

The objective of the project is to investigate the experience's concept on Th. W. Adorno's thought. This investigation has as starting point the hypothesis that the resistance to total integration (social domination) and, with that, resistance to principle of identity that dominate the industrial late capitalism, is only possible - according to Adorno's critical model guided by his diagnosis of 1960s -, if an experience of non-identity occurs. This diagnosis indicates to the blockage to emancipation, without presenting at the same time the tendencies to overcome this blockage. Even if Adorno did not find tendencies to emancipation anchored on social reality, he finds, however, potentials of resistance. In that diagnosis, the principle of identity emerges as dominant principle because it presides both the exchange and the administration of society and thought that were dominated by industrial late capitalism - in Adorno's thought, to think is to identify. The principle of identity but finds its limit on non-identity. In this sense, Adorno proposes a concept of experience broader than the one proposed by positivism. This concept of broad experience allows to experience the non-identity as source of resistance to the principle of identity that is present on industrial late capitalism. In order to demonstrate this thesis, the research will be divided into two steps. The first one has the intention to reconstruct the concept of experience, such as was presented in Adorno's work. This reconstruction takes mainly into account the position that the concept of experience has on the threshold of his work in 1950s. The second step consists in reconstructing the position that the concept of experience has in the 1960s. This reconstruction is accompanied by the diagnosis of such period that indicates the potentials of resistance to the identity principle on the social reality. (AU)
