Abstract

The research aims to investigate the dynamics of the Portuguese colonial policy in relation to the colony of Mozambique in the last decades of the monarchy. It takes account that, probably, the British "ultimatum" of 1890, associated with the advance of capitalism in the country, launched a process modernization in the relationship between metropole and colony supported by new forms of exploitation.
