This project describes the activities to be carried out during a six month stage at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder, Colorado, starting on February 2014. The main objective is the development and demonstration of advanced molecular spectroscopy in the mid-infrared, using "optical frequency comb" based on femtosecond lasers. However, other projects will benefit from this stage: 1) spectroscopy and metrology in the terahertz region (far infrared), 2) the development of optical frequency combs for calibration of astrophysical spectrometers and 2) the development of optical atomic clocks based on neutral atoms. This internship at NIST should bring great benefits to strengthen the collaboration with our group at UNICAMP, and facilitate the exchange of graduate students. (AU)
