Abstract

Microdialysis is a sampling technique to sample substances in the extracellular space and your principle can be compared to an artificial blood vessel. The probe is permeable to water and small molecules, is continuously perfused with physiological solution and the drug cross the membrane probe. The purpose this work is investigate the potential of improving dermal psoralen and bergapten delivery by formulation in microemulsion or hydrogel vehicles and to establish a reliable pharmacokinetic model to analyze cutaneous microdialysis data. After a topical application (dermal rats) of microemulsions or hydrogel, unbound cutaneous concentrations of psoralen and bergapten will be determined by in vivo microdialysis. (AU)
