Abstract

The Signal Transduction Laboratory maintains the infrastructure for tool development and maintenance of the SUCEST-FUN database. Through a new server that will be obtained through the present grant the database will be made public and a series of tools will be developed to keep the infra-structure for safe net and web services, web applications, databases, SSH and FTP connections, backup systems in DLT72 tape and DVD media. The database is being developed to integrate and store expression data associated to sucrose, drought and lignin, besides others obtained through the SUCAST and Sugarcane Transcriptome projects. This database contains information on SUCEST ESTs, SAS, protein sequences, protein domains BLAST against Genbank, PFAM, KEGG, GO that with the sequencing of the sugarcane genome should be integrated with the contig data allowing for gene annotation, the identification and characterization of sugarcane promoters, the identification of CREs in grasses and the integration of heterogeneous data from transcriptomes, molecular markers and physiology.
