Abstract

This project´s aims is to analyze the studies of Mário de Andrade on syncopation in Brazil. Within the immense aesthetic research conducted by the author, the syncopation occupies a central place as a complex and psychophysiological event. This subtle rhythmic movement, also contains a minimal structure of the aesthetic-political project of Mário de Andrade: draw an integral vision of Brazil and its people. The author does not quite systematize his conception of syncopation, and even his "Dicionário musical brasileiro" remains without wording the entry on 'syncopation' to the end of his life. In this project we will study the manuscript on "syncopation" - personal research of Mário de Andrade for the above dictionary, available in the archive "Mário de Andrade" of the Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros (IEB / USP) to analyze: 1.) Bibliographic databases and possible developments of their conception. 2.) Its links with prosody, dance and psychophysiological processes 3.) Its relationship with the Brazilian socio-historical process.
